Southside Blues Band
The band was formed in Reading 11 years ago and was previously called the Acoustic Blues band. They`ve recorded several albums over the years and the current line up as follows:
Dennis Siggery - vocals; started the band 11 years ago when it was formed to play at his upcoming birthday party - the big one! Dennis had not been in a band since he was sixteen. In 11 years he has made nine solo albums, has co- written all the songs. The blues runs in his veins!
Bill Phillips - bass; started playing bass when he was 16. Bill is from Slough and went pro in the 1970`s, has played with many outfits and notably had a spell with the Glitter Band but never talks about it!
Barry Waller - lead guitar ; played pro for over 20 years. Started his professional career in the Mecca ballrooms and the North East club circuit and has lived to tell the tale!
Steve Harris - drums; born in SE London. We used Steve as a dep one dark and stormy night and he was so good we persuaded him to join us. Top blues player!
Nigel Pugh - sax and blues harp; the new guy!We used Nigel at the birthday gig last December, was very impressed and got him to join us. Nigel has been playing in excess of 21 years and is still finding new notes!
The band plays mainly in the South East pub and club blues circuit and this year – 2007, can also be seen at the Wallingford blues \festival where they have successfully appeared several times previously.
When Southside take to the stage you know something good is going to happen.
Dennis gritty vocals works well on the blues, Barry’s guitar inventive and exciting, Bills base and Steve drums are tight and tasteful, great rhythm section.
